RIVERSIDE LEISURE CENTRE
Client: J Sainsbury Plc and Exeter City Council Value: c£4.5m Completed: October 2000 |
|
A true Public/Private Partnership between J Sainsbury and Exeter City Council led to the transformation of Riverside Leisure Centre. The original swimming facility of the Wet and Dry Centre was an 'out and out' Leisure Pool built in the 1980's, around the theme of a large freeform wave pool and flume ride. The unique re-design saw the revitalisation of the flagging, underused Centre via the conversion of the Leisure Pool into a new 6-lane, level deck Swimming and Learner Pools, complete with a new tiered, formal spectating area.
Other parts of the refurbishment involved:
- New Swimming Pool Changing Village (brought up to poolside level from its former basement location)
- A major new Wet and Dry Health and Fitness facility
- Completely refurbished Sports Hall
- Refurbished Entrance area and circulation spaces
