CARDIFF CITY FOOTBALL CLUB, NINIAN PARK
Client: Cardiff City AFC
Value: c£1M
Completed: 1992 |
As architects and project managers, we successfully coordinated these early phases of Cardiff's ambitious plans to become a 20,000 all-seater stadium. The transformation, all in accordance with the 'Green Guide' was backed by a £500,000 'Major Project' Grant from the Football Trust, the application for which was produced and coordinated by Limbrick Limited. Additional grants for safety, lighting and toilet provision were also approved. The work included:
Phase 2 Grandstand Main Enclosure Conversion of the previously closed Grandstand main enclosure to a 2,050 seat 'Bluebird Club main family enclosure', including a new players' training track and impressive new dug outs, and players' tunnel.
Phase 3 Canton Stand
Refurbishment of the disused Canton Stand to create 1,750 quality covered seats.
Phase 4 Popular Bank Stand Major re-profiling of the covered area of the Popular Bank standing terrace. All designed to maximise the 'C' values for viewing within the possibilities of the existing stand, providing 5,500 new, quality, covered seats.
Phase 6 Main Grandstand Enclosure cover extension The provision of a dramatic, new, 105m long extension cover to the 2,050 seats of Phase 2, the 'Bluebird Club Family Enclosure'.
Other work The provision of a new Police Detention Centre and Surveillance Room, along with a new First Aid Centre and the replacement of turnstiles. |
