In addition to his 'hands on' experience in leading projects, Philip's expertise and experience in the design of Sports facilities has led to involvement in a consultant's role in related fields as follows:

  • Carrying out the first ever 'External Expert Appraisal' for a Lottery Application for Sport England on the Bath University Sports Training Village, which included a 50m Training Pool.
  • Headed an external Design Team for Sport England, providing Technical Audits for over 40 completed Lottery funded projects over a 2 year period, and was invited to speak on findings at Sport England Conference.
  • Acted as an Expert Witness on Leisure Centre Design and Swimming Pool related incidents.
  • Invited speaker at AUDE 2000 Conference at Swansea University on the subject 'Applying for a Lottery Grant'.
  • Headed Architectural team providing Technical Audits for the 4P's on PFI leisure projects for 4 Local Authorities.

Many of the Sport and Leisure projects Philip has been involved with have secured grant funding. Philip was involved in the production of the Design and Technical Reports submitted with successful Lottery Sports Fund Applications for the following projects:

  • Parish Wharf Leisure Centre, Portishead
  • Atherstone Leisure Complex
  • Central Park Leisure Centre, Romford
  • Herschel Grammar School
  • Burntwood Leisure Centre
  • Mile End Leisure Centre
  • Wales National Pool, Swansea

As a Director of Limbrick Limited, Philip's current, ongoing projects include major new build, wet and Dry Leisure Centres at Kentish Towns Sports Centre, for London Borough of Camden and Coventry Neighbourhood Leisure Centre, Health & Racquets Clubs at Swindon for Next Generation Clubs and at Gloucester for Esporta along with a new Sports and Leisure Centre for Tonbridge School, Kent.

In addition to the pure architectural aspects of projects, Philip has developed an interest in bringing his experience to the early stages of projects and has been involved in the design aspects of many Feasibility/Leisure Strategy schemes, primarily for Local Authorities, in many instances teaming up with Leisure Consultants. This has led to a clear understanding of operational influences on the design of Leisure Centres, enhancing and complementing his comprehensive technical knowledge.
