NEW INDOOR & OUTDOOR ATHLETICS FACILITIES, SWANSEA Client: CIty and County of Swansea & University of Wales Value: c£5M Completed: Planning permission obtained 2002 This project was a further phase of the practice's work at Swansea University, alongside the new Wales National Pool Complex on a prominent site overlooking Swansea Bay. The facilities develop a 'Sports Village' concept on the site, comprising of a new Welsh Regional Indoor and Outdoor Athletics Centre, 2 international hockey standard, floodlit, all-weather pitches, and the replacement of the existing outdoor Athletics Track, complete with comprehensive field events area and spectator area. The indoor Athletics facility includes a 60m sprint track, high jump, long jump, pole vault, javelin and throws area, complete with changing facilities.
