CENTRAL PARK POOL, HAROLD HILL, ROMFORD Client: London Borough of Havering Sportlot Grant: c£4.22m Value: c£8m Completed: June 2005 The existing 1960's Central Park Pool was at the end of its working life. We were awarded the project following an EU competition. After a detailed Condition Survey and Feasibility Study on potential options for the existing pool facility and consultations with Sport England, it was established that a new build project would provide the best value for money. Set in park land, the Design Team came up with the idea of building the new Leisure Centre alongside the existing facility. This would maintain much needed swimming provision in the Borough during construction, with the existing Pool being demolished on completion. The new Central Park Pool complex also includes the addition of dry facilities and a 2-court, floodlit, all-weather, Multi Use Games Area. The new Centre's facilities include: 6-lane, 25m community pool with spectator seating for 120 13m x 7m Learner Pool 4-court Sports Hall 50 station Fitness Suite Wet Health Suite with Spa Pool, Steam Room and Sauna Creche Cafe/Foyer area
