Stephen Limbrick formed Stephen Limbrick Associates in Covent Garden, London, in April 1987, later relocating his practice to Gloucester in 1992, in order to efficiently access and service it's clients across the UK. Stephen Limbrick Associates' originally concentrated its client base in the Sport and Leisure Sector in both the public and commercial sectors. Stephen's extensive experience in the field enabled him to develop and lead a high calibre team of over 40 professionals, with an enviable, established reputation in a broad range of Sport and Leisure projects. This has also included extensive involvement in the development of dramatic interior design concepts and roll-outs for leading leisure operators.
Stephen Limbrick Associates' success and growing portfolio in Scotland led to Stephen's reciprocal response in the formation of a,now thriving, Scottish office in Edinburgh in 1998.
Whilst continuing to grow and consolidate the practice's position as a leader in the leisure field, Stephen Limbrick has striven for strategic opportunities and growth in other sectors where an impressive range of office, retail and other commercial projects has now developed, initially emanating from valued clients in the leisure market.
Stephen has never been content with just 'going through the motions' and has led by example to build a team with the right values from concept to completion, to meet his client's needs and aspirations. Whilst being 'hands on' and always striving for excellence in design, Stephen is keen to ensure that an understanding of operational needs and requirements are key to developing successful projects in balance with visual and environmental quality and value for money. This is reflected in his current leading role in the Practices Racecourse Projects at Cheltenham and Epsom Downs.
Stephen Limbrick has an extensive understanding of the procurement of public sector Sport and Leisure projects from Feasibility through to completion. He has become an enabler in this sector, where his development of Feasibility process models for new build, and especially for assessing the viable alternative of refurbishment projects, are a reflection of his insistence on helping clients to find physically and financially workable, high quality solutions for the future of their community and elite sports facility provision. This has led to Stephen's views regularly appearing in the leisure press and his involvement in various working parties and conferences, as follows:
- Member of Steering Committee (at English Sports Council invitation) on study for 'Women friendly Sports Facilities'
- Invited member of RIBA Participating ClientSports Forum
- Member of BISL
- Invited speaker by English Sports Council at 1996 RecMan, on 'Women friendly Sports Facilities'
- Invited speaker by English Sports Council at 1997 National Sports Convention on Lottery Best Practice

The Future
In response to growth in both a valued client base and his high quality, professional team, Stephen Limbrick long planned the formal restructuring of his original practice for the future. As a natural and strategic evolution of Stephen Limbrick Associates, the incorporation of the practice to Limbrick Limited took place in May 2003. 15 years after the formation of his original practice, Stephen continues his leadership as Managing Director, along with a new Board of Directors. He is confident that he has positioned the new company to provide a continuing, long term and improving, high quality service for all Limbrick Limited's valued and future clients, through a more formalised, quality, people based company. |
